The Story
Francis of Assisi crossed the battle lines and walked unarmed into the Muslim camp, expecting death. Instead of attacking, he asked to meet Al-Kamil and spoke openly about his faith. The Sultan received him, listened, and allowed him to stay for several days before sending him back safely.
Francis did not win a military victory, but he showed a different kind of courage - stepping into enemy territory without fear. His legacy here is conviction strong enough to face opposition without violence.
